Map
Portfolio: The
Low Country of South Carolina
40'
X 30' Map for Spoleto Festival USA, 2004
Tora
Johnson designed this map in collaboration with Frances Whitehead, Kendra
Hamilton, Walter Hood and Ernesto Pujol as part of an installation at
the 2004 Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina. Mary Jane Jacobs
was curator. The installation, entitled "Water Table," featured
rice paddies and this map/mural of the Low Country of South Carolina.
This installation was the first step in an on-going, community-based
collaboration between artists and others with the Spoleto Festival,
The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and College of the Atlantic.
The map was printed on mesh wrap by Design
To Print, Inc., St. George, UT http://www.dtph.com/.
